Personal finance for women: publication of a new practical guide
ÉducÉpargne and the Chambre de la sécurité financière (“the CSF”) announce the publication of a guide on personal finance for women (in French only). This initiative is the final component of the “Faut qu'on se parle” campaign for the public, which was designed to raise awareness among savers, but above all among women savers, of the challenges they face when it comes to saving for retirement.
This brand-new, practical - and free! - is aimed specifically at women, offering concrete solutions and accessible advice to help them plan their finances and build a prosperous future. It covers financial basics, strategies for career advancement, investment growth, long-term financial planning and retirement planning. A chapter is also devoted to the ever-taboo subject of sharing expenses as a couple.
According to Marie Elaine Farley, President and CEO of the CSF: "This guide is primarily aimed at women consumers of financial products and services, but will also be of use to the professionals who advise them every day on their personal finances and life insurance, throughout Quebec. Enhancing our members' knowledge is an important part of our mission to protect the public. Since advisors trained and supervised by the CSF have a duty to keep their clients well informed, they represent an important link in the chain of financial education."
"In the CSF’s survey, conducted in collaboration with ÉducÉpargne, we learned that 69% of women are afraid of running out of income when they retire. With this new guide, we offer them food for thought to help them take control of their financial situation. By teaming up with partners like the CSF, we are leveraging our ability to reach the Quebec population more effectively. In this way, we can raise awareness of the importance of developing and maintaining sound savings habits, whether for retirement or any other life project," adds Nathalie Bachand, Chairman of the Board of ÉducÉpargne.
First broadcast last fall, the “Faut qu'on se parle” advertising offensive generated 3.4 million impressions and 469,000 views of the two online video messages. The campaign generated a great deal of interest and demonstrated the relevance of the subject.
The new “Les finances personnelles au féminin” guide complements the second phase of the awareness campaign, which has just come to an end. It can be consulted and downloaded free of charge.
