Appointment of Mr. Sébastien Tisserand as syndic of the Chambre de l’assurance

The Board of Directors of the Chambre de l’assurance announces the appointment of Mr. Sébastien Tisserand as syndic. He will officially assume his duties on October 6, 2025.

Mr. Tisserand brings extensive experience in professional ethics and oversight, notably acquired through his previous role as syndic at the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages.

“The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tisserand as the first syndic of the Chambre de l’assurance, following a rigorous selection process. His inclusive leadership, innovative approach, and deep understanding of the regulatory framework are key assets in ensuring public protection. The Board is confident that Mr. Tisserand will actively contribute to maintaining rigorous and fair oversight of professionals in insurance and financial planning,” said Mario Albert, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chambre de l’assurance.

To fulfill his responsibilities, Mr. Tisserand will rely on the complementary expertise of the teams from the two organizations that merged to form the Chambre de l’assurance. Bringing together specialists with diverse skills in finance, insurance, ethics, and investigative techniques, the Syndic’s Office will leverage their knowledge and experience to ensure fair and objective handling of inquiry requests, while maintaining operational efficiency.

The Board of Directors, management, and team of the Chambre de l’assurance wish to express their sincere gratitude to Ms. Julie Dagenais for her outstanding commitment to the Chambre de la sécurité financière over the past two decades.

About the Chambre de l’assurance

The Chambre de l’assurance is mandated to provide quality oversight of the insurance and financial planning sector while maintaining a high level of public protection. It oversees the continuing education, ethics, and discipline of its members, who practice as: insurance of persons representatives, group insurance representatives, mutual fund representatives*, scholarship plan representatives*, financial planners (for ethics and discipline only), damage insurance agents, damage insurance brokers, or claims adjusters.

*As of July 2026, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (CIRO) and the AMF will be responsible for overseeing members in these disciplines.
