Minister of Finance appoints heads of the new Chambre de l'assurance

Press release by the Office of the Minister of Finance:

Quebec City, June 20, 2025 - The Minister of Finance, Mr. Eric Girard, announces the appointment of Ms. Chantal Lamoureux as President and CEO of the CSF and Mr. Mario Albert as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the same organization. Effective July 4, these appointments are the first step in the process leading to the establishment of the Chambre de l’assurance, created following the adoption of the Act to amend various provisions mainly in the financial sector.

The Minister also designates Mr. Richard Blain and Ms. Sylvianne Chaput to act as independent directors on the transition committee formed within the Board of Directors. This five-person committee will propose to the Board the by-laws governing the election of directors. Mr. Albert will also sit on this committee, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board. The other two members of the committee will be appointed by the Chambre de l'assurance, from among the directors who made up the boards of the Chambre de la sécurité financière and the Chambre de l'assurance de dommages.

Note that the new Chambre de l'assurance is the result of the merger of the Chambre de la sécurité financière and the Chambre de l'assurance de dommages. It is subject to the framework governing self-regulatory organizations set out in the Act respecting the oversight of the financial sector.
