L’association canadienne des compagnies d’assurance de personnes (ACCAP) publie les faits saillants de l’année

Au cours de l’année 2020, les 48 sociétés d’assurances vie canadiennes ont versé plus de 97 milliards de dollars (G$) en prestations d’assurances vie et maladie selon les données recueillies sur les assurances de personnes au Canada. Ces assureurs ont recueilli 123 milliards de dollars de revenu en primes. Fait à souligner, le secteur des solutions de retraite et de l’assurance maladie a progressé de 40% sur les dix dernières années.

Les assureurs de personnes ont ainsi déboursé : 
✓ Plus de 12 G$ pour des médicaments d’ordonnance; 
✓ 950 M$ au titre de l’assurance voyage, en grande partie en raison d’annulations; 
✓ 420 M$ de prestations pour des traitements psychologiques, à l’appui de la santé mentale – près de 25 % de plus qu’en 2019; 
✓ 154 M$ de capital d’assurance vie pour des décès liés à la COVID-19; 
✓ 46 G$ de prestations de retraite; 
✓ 37 G$ de prestations d’assurance maladie complémentaire; 
✓ 14 G$ de prestations d’assurance vie.
