Is your advisor a member?

The 32,000 CSF members are trained, certified and monitored professionals, who must be authorized to practise in Quebec. That’s why you should consult the Register of firms and individuals authorized to practise before working with an advisor.

This register, which is maintained by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), contains the contact information of professionals who are CSF members authorized to work in the financial products and services sector. Consulting the register only takes a few minutes, and you’ll find out if your advisor is in good standing.

You can access the register here.

If your search gives no results, we encourage you to contact the CSF information centre.

Right to practise

A CSF member must be authorized to practise in one of the disciplines or registration categories monitored by the CSF:

To obtain the right to practise, a representative must hold a certificate issued by the AMF, pay the annual contribution to the CSF and have professional liability insurance. Specific obligations apply, depending on the discipline or registration category.

Disciplinary history

The Register of firms and individuals authorized to practise does not contain disciplinary history records. Find out if an advisor has been subject to a disciplinary decision.
