Role of the syndic

The role of the syndic is to carry out an inquiry on his own initiative or on receiving information to the effect that a representative has committed an offence under a provision of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services, the Securities Act or any of their regulations.

The syndic position is currently held by Me Claude Baril.

The rules and regulations arising under the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services and the Securities Act and the provisions of the two codes of ethics exist in order to dictate the professional conduct of representatives.

Through its mission, the Chambre de la sécurité financière oversees the practice of the profession by its members in order to maintain the public’s trust in those members. The syndic of the CSF plays a key role in that regard.
