Demystifying the financial dynamics of the couple to better advise spouses

Expert witness in the notorious “Éric v. Lola” case and co-author of the book L’amour et l’argent: Guide de survie en 60 questions, Hélène Belleau will share her 10 years of research on the relationship between couples and their personal finances. The presentation will be followed by a round table discussion.

Understanding client trust: neuroscience to support your approach

Guillaume Dulude, a doctor in neuropsychology and a well-known presenter, will explain the psychological foundations of communication that lead to the establishment of a trusting relationship. The goal of the exercise is for advisors to integrate these principles into their approach and foster client engagement.

Speakers

    Hélène Belleau is a sociologist and professor at the Centre Urbanisation Culture Société of the INRS. For several years, she has been interested in conjugal relationships, the social use of money and the legal framework of de facto unions. She is the scientific director of the Familles en mouvance (families in motion) research partnership and founded the Observatoire des réalités familiales du Québec (ORFQ). She has given more than 200 conferences and training sessions recognized by the IQPF and the CSF.  She is the author of several books including L’amour et l’argent: Guide de survie en 60 questions with Delphine Lobet, published in 2017 by Remue-Ménage and Quand l’amour et l’État rendent aveugle. Le mythe du mariage automatique. Presses de l’Université du Québec, Quebec City, 2011.

    Guillaume Dulude has a passion for communication and has been studying, practicing, and teaching communication psychology for over 18 years. He holds a double doctorate (Ph.D.) in neuropsychology and clinical psychology and specializes in cognitive processes, i.e., in mental functions and operations.

    Architect of the Psycom method, Dulude acts as an interpersonal communication strategist, corporate consultant, trainer, lecturer, university teacher, documentary filmmaker and director.

    Having given several conferences and panels internationally, Guillaume speaks nine languages and uses a hands-on educational approach to help individuals quickly integrate their new communication tools.

    He has been passionate about communication: writing, podcast, TV, radio, ever since he was a child. You can regularly see and listen to him on major national media. He has 6 books to his credit, all dealing with personal finance and financial planning.

    Major has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. As a hobby, he loves walking in the woods with his golden retrievers, Emil and Bruno, and plays tennis regularly. Since he started working in finance in 1998, he has never ceased to perfect his skills in securities and financial planning. He holds an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Administrators Order of Quebec (Adm.A). He is currently completing his Chartered Portfolio Manager academic training. He is the founder of Major Gestion Privée. His team consists of fifteen professionals working in Outremont, St-Lambert, St-Georges-de-Beauce and Quebec City.

    Major sees himself as an economic and financial pathfinder. He defines his role as a guide who assists families to better manage and plan their wealth. Each of his interventions and recommendations is aimed at informing and promoting the best interests of his clients.
