Notice is hereby given by the presiding officer that elections will be held for five director position on the Board of Directors of the Chambre de la sécurité financière (“the Chamber”) on May 19, 2010, and that the polls will close at 5:00 p.m.

This year, the following seats are vacant:

Under the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (the Act) the Board of Directors of the Chamber consists of eleven directors. Of this number, nine directors are elected and the two representing the public are appointed by the Minister of Finance. The term of office of the elected members is two years.

Three members of the Chamber's Board of Directors are in charge of representing the insurance of persons sector, three are responsible for representing the representative of a mutual fund dealer registration category, one is responsible for the group insurance of persons sector, one for the representative of a scholarship plan dealer registration category, and one for financial planning.

As prescribed by the Act, the elections for the insurance of persons sector and the representative of a mutual fund dealer registration category will be held by region. In accordance with the Chamber's by-laws, the Quebec territory is divided into three regions (A - B - C). The region to which a representative belongs is determined by his/her home address. Elections for the group insurance of persons sector, the financial planning sector and the representative of a scholarship plan dealer registration category will be held province-wide.
